How-To: Run 32-bit Apps on Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit

Unlike 64-bit versions of Windows and OS X that run 32-bit apps without any extra effort, Ubuntu requires the manual installation of 32-bit libraries. The good news is that only one command needs to be executed at the command line. For newer releases of Ubuntu, like 13.04, it is sudo apt-get install ia32-libs-multiarch. MultiArch support was introduced in release 11.04. For earlier releases of Ubuntu, the command is sudo apt-get install ia32-libs. You can read more about MultiArch support in Ubuntu at Ubuntu MultiArch.
